About Julie Rawson
I grew up on a hog farm in Illinois in the 1950s and 60s. That has forever had an impact on the way I look at life. Although I had a short stint for ten years mostly during my 20s in the cities (Chicago and Boston), it has always been very clear to me that I'm a farmer. A friend of ours probably said it best when he was comparing someone else and her farming venture to me, when he said: "I just can't see Maggie with goose shit between her toes."
My most fun thing to do when I was growing up was to go down to the crick with my sister Sue and brother Tom and play in the mud. To this day, playing in the dirt with my friends is about the closest thing to heaven that I can imagine.
